About the Mayor

Mayor Marlon Garcia comes from a family of dedicated public servants, being the son of former Cebu governor Pablo Garcia and the late judge Esperanza Fiel Garcia.

Before his election as the town mayor in 2016, he had previously served Barili as its vice mayor from 2010 to 2013.

He was elected on a platform of providing a better infrastructure for a stronger economic base in Barili through the upgrade of the town’s public market and the livestock market in Mantayupan.

His advocacy for poverty alleviation had him drawing up programs for education, skills training, and the strengthening of Barili’s tourism potentials such as the Mantayupan Falls.

Mayor Marlon Garcia was a graduate of Bachelor of Laws from the University of San Carlos, and was a legislative officer at the House of Representatives from 1987 to 1989.

He was the Assistant Vice President of AMA Computer College for Cebu Operations until 1992, and went to become a contracts manager at the University of Houston from the year 2000 to 2005.

Armed with experience and an intrinsic passion for public service, he went back to Barili with the vision of a better future for his fellow Barilinhon.
